An Unbreakable Family

An introduction to my new blog BoneBoneBreak.life! This post should tell you all about what to expect and what is to come.

An Unbreakable Family

First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who comes to my blog. My name is Luke, and I have a beautiful wife with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. I also recently had a baby boy, and he was also diagnosed with this rare bone disease. I decided to start BoneBoneBreak.life because I think everyone dealing with OI, directly or indirectly, should have all the resources and support they need to succeed. I have been with my wife for three years. Finding the correct information, whether it be finding a doctor, the most accessible gyms, or just a fun Friday night activity has rarely been as easy as it should be. I want to change that for the better!

Hello!

Just your average IT professional from the Midwest here! I know that doesn't sound like someone who would go and put themselves out on the internet, but I am creating this blog because I want to create a platform where people affected by OI whether that be personally, a family member, or a friend, can have easy access to a community ready to help them out in life. Plus if you think about it who better to create a community on the internet than a computer nerd? When I am not creating blog posts, I am with my family or learning something new; whether that be computer-related like a new video game or learning how to bake a new kind of bread from scratch. My family consists of my beautiful wife, Moriah, my son, Mavrick, and my Golden doodle named Stella. I plan to write a more in-depth introduction about myself and my family, but I didn't want you talking to a stranger until then.

The Goals Of This Blog

I have high hopes for this blog and don't know where it will go, but there is a vision to share. So you all know what to expect when joining the BoneBoneBreak community. This site will have stories from myself, my wife, the community, and one day my son. The site will also have a lot of great resources, such as product reviews and life hacks that my wife and I use daily for Adapting things or just generally improving our quality of life. The goal as a community should be to help each other and spread awareness. The community should be inviting so even more people can be reached. Please share this blog with anyone that you know may find it helpful! Is there something you have been searching for in a community? What are some of the holes in your support system? Let me know at luke.maple@bonebonebreak.life and I will do my best to help you out!

Plans for Posting and the Blog

Like any successful vacation or trip, you need a plan to be successful, and I don't think blogging is any different. The current schedule is to release a new blog post every Friday evening. Hopefully, this will give people at least one thing to look forward to during the week. If this schedule seems manageable and there is healthy demand for more, I will try and post twice a week. The second day for posting will be determined when it is needed. I will have a tenetive topic posting schedule out some time next week. That schedule will have a dedicated page so it will be easy to find. Hopefully there will be at least one topic for everyone to be exited about! I am more than happy to take suggestions from you guys. I want this blog to be as accessible and useful for people as possible. What kinds of posts would you be exited to see?

Planned Site Improvements

I know that currently there are a few things that are missing such as a comment section. I still have some research to do on the best options out there but I want to assure you all that it is are coming. A community that cant talk is a pretty lonely place to be! I picked  the ghost platform   because it seemed to be very modular and easy to add all the bells and whistles you want now I  just have to find the right bells and or whistles

Finishing Up

I want to say again that I appreciate anyone who comes and enjoys this blog. Helping people, within the OI community, grow and thrive will be a pleasure. Hopefully, we can all make a few friends along the way.

Quote of the week

“I think if you get kicked in the face you deserved it because that means that you watched the foot come to your face.” Kevin Hart

I hope you all have a fantastic week, and be on the lookout for my next post on Friday the 15th. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me!
